Why is endless travel the goal for people who retire? Is there no higher goal in life?

    We just need to adapt,
Humans are the best to adapting.
From being held to crawling to walking to running,
Being fed to eating ourselves to being able to cook,
From goo goo ga ga to talking and even multiple foreign languages,
Starting school starting work starting retirement,
It’s just the natural process in life.
Money wise it’s all about maths,
Track what you earn to what you spend,
Clever investments to create financial freedom to not work,
VERY IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU RETIRE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF MONEY BECAUSE IT DOES MAKE RETIREMENT EVEN MORE SPECIAL.
You want to be able to live, you don’t want to just sit infront of the tv being miserable.
I semi retired at 42 then fully retired at 45,
Best decision I’ve ever made in actual fact what I know now I wished I could have done it sooner.
    Good luck everyone
One life live it well 🙏

I never worry about dips in the market. I just don't look when the market is down because it ALWAYS comes back. Looking back on my accounts, there are so many more ups than downs so I don't understand why folks get so stress out over a down day or month. For example for 2025 thus far, 6 out of 8 months were up. That's how the market works. There's just no need to stress about it. Just don't look when the market is down, because it will always bounce back, I promise, and I've been doing it for many years

One of the best decisions you can make as you approach retirement is to have your house paid off. Just think of the high rate of inflation and having to make mortgage payments even in retirement. One of the main causes of the majority of seniors' restless nights is the rising rate of inflation. They risk running out of money because of the rise in the cost of necessities. The amount of money retirees can take out of their retirement savings rises in tandem with price hikes.

One bad sequence of returns early in retirement? Your 4% rule collapses. I’ve seen people go back to work at 50 with half their nest egg gone.

The FIRE movement sells freedom, but nobody talks about the obsession required. Saving 70% of your income means saying ‘no’ to everything—family trips, emergencies, even healthcare. Is that really ‘living’?

Rich people should make you nervous. Your vids are missing something…. there should be like flames behind your ridiculous faces and expressions in these vids. I hope I am literally watching one of your vids while society unravels out on the street below me. I will just have another ring-ding and turn UP the volume!! Thanks, Satan!

I have reached my fire but I’m struggling to hit the early retirement button yet because I think I will get bored without my job. The day is coming when I will hit that button. I’m just not ready yet.

66 years old, very comfortably retired as of 5/31/14, shortly before turning 56.
I am very Lucky and Blessed that all the points you brought up had been taken care of beforehand or didn't apply. E.g. child-free…by the Grace…
Watched (and enjoyed) your video, glad to know I'm not "missing anything" LOL
Thank you for an excellent, listener-friendly presentation, and for all the good that you do.

Generating wealth is important, but safeguarding your capital is even more crucial. Once it's gone, regaining financial stability becomes much harder. The key difference lies between "passing up an opportunity" and "losing it all." While new opportunities will always come, losing your capital could abruptly end your journey.

Not sure who 'they' are? There is so much information avaioable and many of your points like healthcare costs and inlfation are pretty basic components of determining if you have enough assets. What about how people limit their social security earnings? What about the truth that many that FIRE and still working and earning money. I hope it works for you, but it will not for many.

You’re absolutely right—it feels like the traditional idea of retirement is slipping away for many people in the U.S. I actually had this discussion with friends yesterday, and we all agreed that the days when pensions provided security and people could comfortably retire in their hometowns are largely behind us. The rising cost of living, stagnant wages, and a lack of affordable housing have made it increasingly difficult to save enough for retirement. For those living in high-cost areas like Washington, D.C., retiring there is out of reach without significant financial resources.
